Abstract

Objective: to draw an audiological profile, conducting a survey of audiometric data of individuals between 45 and 59 years old, who were attended in the General Hospital of Fortaleza, from the year 2015 to 2018. In order to identify the number of individuals who are possibly affected by Presbycusis, considering tympanometric curves, genders of patients attended, and type and degree of hearing loss. Methods: A quantitative study was carried out, in which 180 tests carried out in the referred hospital, in the period from 2015 to 2018, of patients aged 45 to 59 were evaluated. Exam data such as age, type and degree of loss of hearing, laterality and tympanometric curve characteristics. Results: It can be seen that most of this population that performed the audiometric exam has a hearing loss with the characteristic of presbycusis, being sensorineural, bilateral, with the normal tympanometric curve. There was a greater predominance in men and with a slight degree of loss. Conclusion: It is concluded that the incidence of prebiacusia may have a new age group and that it is necessary to disclose such data in order to prevent the damage caused by hearing loss due to aging. And further studies are also needed to confirm such speculation.
