Abstract:
In coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), larger body weights are associated with respiratory dysfunction and the requirement of mechanical ventilation, particularly in younger individuals (1). Alarmingly, over 70% of the adult population in the United States is obese or overweight (2). Therefore, determining safe and effective ways to improve respiration and avoid intubation in this population is critical.
